About S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Combining interesting story with great graphics resulted in a financial success for the developers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. The game received two standalone expansion packs (being a prequel and a sequel) – Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat, selling over 4 million copies worldwide (abovementioned add-ones included). Creating a sequel was a formality. To everyone’s surprise, GSC Game World resigned from the exclusivity of the series for the PCs, and decided to bring it to the next-gen consoles, as well.
The events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 take the players to the post nuclear world. The players find themselves in the Zone – deadly place in which the radiation is so extreme that it mutates the present life forms.
The game combines FPS elements with RPG and tactical gameplay, thanks to which it is rather unconventional. Contrary to the previous installments in the series, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 utilizes a new graphic engine. The change was caused not only by the increase in the platforms, but also technical difficulties that X-Ray engine used to cause.
