About XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is an add-on for PC, PS4 and XONE version of turn-based strategy game XCOM 2. This is not a standalone expansion, meaning it requires the basic version of the game. Both titles have been developed by Firaxis Games studio, which also worked on games such as Sid Meier’s Civilization VI and Sid Meier’s Pirates!
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen greatly expands the single player campaign. The hostile forces of ADVENT start to use new kinds of agents in form of titular Chosen to capture the leader of XCOM group. They are the most dangerous veterans that fight for aliens, merciless specialists that kidnap our subordinates and torture them to gather valuable information.
The biggest addition in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen are obviously Chosen. Their efficiency is so great that they can even break to the strategic plane and starts destroying our global operations. There are also three new independent rebel factions: Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars, each with a unique hero class. Their role isn’t limited solely to specific missions. It is important to keep good relationships with them, or we won’t be able to count on their help. Aliens also received reinforcements, with three new deadly species in their ranks.
Aside from that, War of the Chosen introduces new locations and objectives to the campaign. We can e.g. fight in abandoned towns that were targeted by biological weapon during the initial invasion of aliens, in underground tunnels and places where plants have been transformed by alien technology. Interestingly, there is also another faction we can meet, consisting of mutated humans called the Lost. They hate both the aliens, and us and they act more like mindless zombies than clever soldiers of the ADVENT.
Additionally, our soldiers can learn new skills, and there is SITREP system that modifies some parts of the mission to increase the variety of gameplay. List of novelties ends with challenge mode, which regularly offers new challenges prepared by creators.
